Home Coffee Grinders - Burr Or Blade - Which Should I Choose?

Saturday, May 17th, 2008

If you’re new to the flavorful & aromatic world of gourmet coffee, you may be at a loss as to which kind of grinder you’ll need for your fresh-roasted coffee beans. Keep in mind that there are a couple of things that affect the flavor of your freshly brewed coffee: air & heat.

To address the first-air-you need to store your beans in an air-tight container in a cool, dark place-NOT the refrigerator. (Unopened beans can be safely stored in the freezer for up to 3 months.) Some coffee aficionados go so far as to store a small amount of coffee that they’ll use in a few days’ time so they don’t continually open a larger bag & expose it to the flavor-destructive element of oxygen.

Crock Pot Casseroles Are The Quintessential One Dish Meal

Thursday, May 1st, 2008

I’m a fan of casseroles – meat, vegetables, and carbohydrates all in one dish. But when you really take a look, you realize as you’re cooking that casseroles are truly NOT a one dish meal. You have a pot to cook the noodles, a strainer to drain them, a pan to brown the meat, a pot to heat the cream base and combine everything in, and a baking dish to bake it in. That doesn’t seem like one dish; it seems more like five.

Chicken In Green Curry With Coconut Milk

Saturday, April 26th, 2008

Last week I had a chance to bring a friend of mine to a Thai restaurant in downtown. He has heard a lot about Thai food but never tried it before. Actually, he would like to come to Thai restaurant many times but he didn’t know what to eat. He was so happy that day because I accompanied him to the restaurant. I ordered a few Thai dish for him to try. He liked it all but what he liked most was chicken in green curry with coconut milk. He asked me to teach him how to cook this menu. So I told him to log into my blog and checked it out. That is why I am here today.

Some Favourite Restaurants In Provence - Part 1

Monday, April 21st, 2008

There are, quite literally, thousands of restaurants in Provence!

Over the past couple of decades we’ve tried to sample as many as humanly possible – but we are beginning to realise that we’ve hardly scraped the surface!

Here are some brief notes on just a selection of the restaurants we have eaten in (and enjoyed!) over the last few years.

Most of them are in the Vaucluse and Bouches-du-Rhone regions of Provence (our favorite stamping grounds), with just the occasional foray into the Var and the Alpes Maritimes.

What So Great About Popcorn Machines

Sunday, April 13th, 2008

First it was that you only got popcorn in movie theaters, and then as a child you might remember making popcorn with oil in a big pan. After microwaves became all the rage there came microwave popcorn. It is obvious that as a society we love our popcorn. That is why having a popcorn machine is not at all unpractical anymore, and is actually becoming increasing popular to do so. With the influx of media rooms and bonus rooms where people like to lounge around and watch movies with their family and friends, having a popcorn machine that can make large batches of popcorn seems perfectly reasonable.

French Fries Anyone - Where To Get The Good Ones In Orange County, Ca

Sunday, March 16th, 2008

I am a self-professed health nut. Among my family and co-workers (which include mere passing acquaintances), I am referred to as “the nutso who actually loves vegetables”. So when I set out to do a review to suggest what place to go to eat french fries you can only imagine the looks that came my way!

In reality, who better than me? After all, if I consider a certain place to have a fried potato worthy enough to swallow-it must really be good. Right?

Here are some of the better places to try, believe it or not, some of them are actually chain restaurants!

Your Wine Deserve Wine Storage Furniture

Sunday, March 16th, 2008

For those who love and collect wine, wine storage furniture offers the perfect vehicle to display their collections. And no one would want to show off their prize bottles in an unappealing manner, any more than they would wand to frame a prize painting in a faux wood frame. A well-made and intricately designed piece of wine storage furniture will give a collection of fine wines the setting they deserve, and add a distinctly elegant accent to the wine collector’s home.

Picnics Made Easy

Monday, March 10th, 2008

A picnic meal need not be a complicated event. Offering cold food items makes the menu easier to control. There will be less equipment to bring and fewer cleanups afterwards.

Sandwiches are a preferred picnic item. In the past a sandwich consisted of two pieces of bread and lunch meat. Sandwiches have been given an overhaul in recent years.

To add variety to ordinary sandwiches, choose from a variety of breads. Sandwiches are being made from pitas, flatbreads, and tortilla wraps. Cut the bread the night before and store in an airtight container.
